NY Pops: Carnegie hall
“As part of their Visual Pops project, the NY Pops were looking to collaborate with a group who could creatively reimagine the motion of their conductor's baton. The real-time visualizations would be projected live at the NY Pops 29th Birthday Gala.
To accomplish this, we outfitted a standard baton with an infrared light that allowed us to robustly track the conductor's motions with a high frame rate camera. Using custom software, a 3D mesh was generated in real-time from the tracked baton. This primitive visualization was then augmented with several dynamic effects that we developed, including a unique liquid filter.
For the show we were able to tweak the effects parameters live, ensuring the most visceral connection between sound and visuals.” – Fake Love
